Dating Secrets: Read Men Like a Book and FLOW through 21 Ways to Refresh Your Relationships (Sovereign Series) Kindle Edition
Navigate the Dating Rapids Without Drowning in Drama
If dating feels like a contact sport with emotional bruises, awkward silences, and more red flags than a communist parade, Flow is part survival guide and part outspoken friend telling you what you need - not want - to hear.
Flow does not sugarcoat your romantic misadventures but hands you a flashlight to illuminate the dark woods of your dating forays where digital detrivores, out to drain your finances and squeeze every last drop of goodness from your emotions, lurk.
You'll emerge laughing — lighter and wiser. Forget self-help - this demolition derby of romantic delusions, part manifesto, part survival guide, detonates everything you thought you knew about love with:
- Red Flag Radar: Learn to dodge emotional landmines before they detonate. Is Conman Don slithering into your DMs? Narcissist Nick? Complex Carl? You'll ghost them harder than a bad Wi-Fi connection in the Sahara.
- Confidence Alchemy: Transform from relationship doormat to Water Queen, flowing around obstacles with grace and sovereignty.
- Emotional antibodies: Turn romantic setbacks into rocket fuel when you learn to see rejection as intel rather than fatal.
Caroline Hurry introduces a cast of romantic archetypes so spot-on you'll send screenshots to your therapist.
Whether exploring first-date minefields, surviving breakup tsunamis, or trying to decode the mysterious language of long-term commitment, Flow is your hilarious straight-shooting guide — no GPS required.
Cutting through the chaos with humor, hard-won wisdom, and zero tolerance for self-sabotage, this empowering lifeline can help you create lasting, fulfilling connections minus the usual self-help fluff and fortune-cookie wisdom.

Editorial Reviews
Review
Caroline Hurry has done it again!
Like a siren call, she beckons readers into depths of ill-fated relationships that
crashed against rocks or were lost at sea.
'With mirth and merriment, we recognize the male archetypes from Boring Bert to Lothario Larry and
weep-laugh at the collective folly that had us climbing aboard these shipwrecks in the first place.
'There is a reason tears are salty. But then, Caroline Hurry's sparkling prose leads us into the crystal-clear waters of
relationship redemption. We emerge refreshed, steering our own ships, and singing the siren song in a harmonious chorus.
C'mon in, the water's fine.
- Yvonne Aileen, author of the Goddesses Trilogy
Five-star entertainment that hits home
A woman's book judging by the cover and series, Flow 21 secrets is, in fact, more of a gem full of insights for men.
You'll find none of the misogynistic fantasies beloved by dull dating books for men that typically recommend dubious gaslighting techniques to trick a woman into becoming dependent on them.
By contrast, Caroline Hurry's second book in her Hygge Queen series is a riot. You'll find yourself laughing out loud with relief that you are nothing like some of the dubious archetypes wittily summed up as rogue galleries.
By offering no-holds-barred descriptions of which men repel the kind of woman you'd want to attract - a lady-in-waiting, if not a queen - Flow 21 Secrets provides a perfect blueprint on what not to do.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe cover for this book titled, “Flow: 21 Secrets to Refresh Your Relationship” by Caroline Hurry, depicts a woman with a headdress made of sea creatures and, I presume, seaweed. In the introduction, the author offers an explanation. She writes, in part: “FLOW is an outstretched hand helping you up from the slippery rocks of romance into a rubber dinghy to carry you across shark-filled seas to the shores of your innate magnificence.” One confusing bit: the subtitle on the cover is “Decode the Rogue: 18 Dating Archetypes. However, the book’s Amazon page lists the title/subtitle as follows: “Dating Secrets: Read Men Like a Book and FLOW through 21 Ways to Refresh Your Relationships (Sovereign Series).”
This is an irreverent and comical take on dating, although much of the advice is sound. The writing is sparse, so this is a very quick read. The author has a unique and peculiar way with words. For example, a sample Archetype: “Hard Luck Harry, Irascible old rogue whose idea of a deep abdominal workout is trying his shoes.”
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI like the humorous language side of the book. How the author made the text engaging and easy to understand. I also admire the personal growth described. To me it was enlighting to see how women see men and understand them too.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe dating scene sucks, and this book proved why with each piece of advice.
The advice itself is delivered in a casual and humorous way, allowing it to be more digestible for someone who refuses to admit that half the problem is the people they're choosing to date. The dating archetypes were spot-on and easily understandable if you haven't encountered that type of person yet. I also appreciate that FLOW can be read by someone seeking a relationship as well as someone seeking to improve their current romance.
Like all relationship self-help titles, you take out of it what you put into it. On that note, take this advice with a grain of salt. As someone married to a geek, the stereotypical viewpoints can be difficult to swallow, but the satire at which most of this is delivered was entertaining. This book can be a great guide at understanding different types of men, but men are humans, which means general blanketed terms won't apply once you get to deeply know someone.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI found this book’s unique approach to dating enjoyable. This author captured the men women encounter with sarcasm and humor while cutting straight to the bone. Her use of language made considering the dreary qualities of men more appealing. Her descriptions like a man with short arms and deep pockets got her points across.
Any woman involved with a man is sure to come away a little wiser after reading this book. I plan to take her advice to use baths to wash bad experiences down the drain.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt was fascinating to see the different Archetypes. The authors explained what to look for and how to react to them. I enjoyed taking the test to learn that I was a queen! Her modus operandi was insightful. The affirmation resonates with me. I will try the detox. I recommend this book because it helps you understand your relationships with men.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWhen I first picked up this book, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, after reading it cover to cover, I can confidently say that this book is a must-read for anyone seeking empowerment in their relationships.
Caroline Hurry's writing is easy to follow and engaging, and her descriptions of the various archetypes and rogues in the dating world had me laughing out loud as I recognized some of the people I've dated. But don't let the comical tone fool you - Hurry's insights are powerful and thought-provoking.
I appreciated that the book was direct and clear in its messaging, and I particularly enjoyed the sections on recognizing and repelling red flags, as well as transforming undesirable situations into more sparkly outcomes. The book is both educational and entertaining, with playful and witty language throughout.
But what sets "Flow" apart from other relationship books is its focus on the current of abundant love - hygge - and the importance of understanding oneself before seeking out a partner. The book encourages readers to build immunity to silver-tongued dialogue merchants, misogynists, and narcissists, and to create healthy, supportive relationships naturally.
Overall, I highly recommend "Flow" to anyone seeking to refresh their relationships and find empowerment in their love lives.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI found Flow: Read Men Like a Book absolutely fascinating! It was eye-opening to see how women interpret men’s emotions and behaviors, especially in the dating world. The book gave me a fresh perspective on how women perceive men in general, making it a must-read for guys more than girls.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt’s worth getting the book just to familiarize yourself with all the red flags in relationships. Some of these red flags may be familiar to you; however, a refresher is always helpful. The sooner you get out of these dead-end relationships, the better. The “gallery of common specimens,” like Boomerang Bruce, Conman Don, and Gaslighter Gas, certainly reminded me of past acquaintances. The book covers many intriguing topics and certainly would be very helpful to anyone navigating the dating scene.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI laughed out loud reading Caroline Hurry’s collection of men to watch out for in the dating world. I recognized a few from my long-ago single days before I met my husband, who wouldn’t belong in her gallery. Take (or don’t take) Stingy Steve—“In his pocket is the dud credit card he likes to whip out with a flourish when the bill comes. ‘I can’t understand why it doesn’t work. Perhaps the system’s down.’” Or Paranoid Pete—“When you tell him you were once a nurse, he pulls up his shirt to show you a cyst on his back.”
The author’s wonderful wit is woven with serious advice on dating. How to avoid common pitfalls, how to look out for red flags, what to do when faced with an abusive partner, and dating don’ts. I especially liked the parts on self-reflection, with a quiz to discover if you are The Handmaiden, the Lady-In-Waiting, or The Treasure Chest in relationships. The author is very clever, very funny. You won’t regret picking up her book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Post-break-up Reading
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is a razor-sharp exploration of the world of modern dating with a light-hearted focus on wit. It’s an irreverent take that distils the chaos and cuts through the rubbish to segment it into digestible observations. And it’s strictly a man-free zone unless you blokey-blokes really want to get inside your woman’s head. This book, while being full-on girl-power, is great. It looks at dating pitfalls and segments our hook-ups and long-term relationships into archetypal personalities—we know these men. We do. They are relatable, uncomfortable, and unfortunately horribly accurate. Using humour, the book empowers women to control their romantic lives. It’s full of wisdom and sage advice.
I like that the eBook version has clickable links to navigate the sections.
The unapologetic tone and focus on practical advice give it depth. It isn’t just a romp and gives us valid tips in every chapter. It makes readers evaluate their self-worth to sidestep toxic relationships and tackles serious topics head-on. However, on the flip side, it’s light and leaves readers laughing as they gain confidence. From first-date heartbreak to the complexities of long-term commitment, this book empowers.
Perfect for post-break-up reading.

Con un toque de humor y sarcasmo, también te enseña a identificar las banderas rojas en tu relación y como puedes hacer para mejorarla.
